Don't family cord blood banks cover the cost of using the stem cells for therapy?
Parents contract with family cord blood banks to provide the services of cord blood collection, stem cell isolation, and preservation. Coverage for therapy-related costs is not the responsibility of the cord blood bank. In some countries the costs of a cord blood transplant are covered by the national health service. If you live in a country where these treatments are not free or would like to have the option to have them done abroad, we recommend searching for a bank that has an insurance partner providing cord blood insurance, or else you can purchase a separate insurance policy for this coverage.
