Founded in 2009 by two MD Pathologists and an IIT graduate, ReeLabs Pvt. Ltd. was established with a singular vision to position India as a global leader in stem cell storage, research and treatment. ReeLabs has become India's first integrated stem cell company, with services that cross the spectrum from biobanking to delivery of therapies.
In its continued commitment to stem cell research, ReeLabs has set up India's largest, state of the art stem cell facility in the heart of Mumbai. Our facility features a Class 100,000 lab premise, a Class 10,000 clean room and a Class 100 safety workbench for stem cell harvesting, ensuring the highest standards of precision and safety. We are proudly FDA, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) approved.
ReeLabs is also the only company in India that has the capability and technology to bank stem cells from the Placenta (Chorion), Amniotic Sac and Amniotic Fluid. We are the only one that provides a certificate of analysis for these cells.

Collection Kit
ReeLabs Cord Blood Collection Kit can be used in the operating room during a C-section or normal delivery and consists of a blood bag, four gel packs, two sterile collection jars, an EDTA vacutainer, a plain vacutainer with gel, a set of sterile gloves, saline, an alcohol swab, a bandage, a syringe, a vacutainer needle, a vacutainer holder, a tourniquet, and Gentamicin.
ReeLabs Placental Collection Kit can be used in the operating room during a C-section or normal delivery and consists of four gel packs, one sterile collection jar with bag, an EDTA vacutainer, a plain vacutainer with gel, a set of sterile gloves, saline, an alcohol swab, a bandage, a syringe, a vacutainer needle, a vacutainer holder, a tourniquet, and Gentamicin.
Transportation container
ReeLabs collection kit is specially designed as a robust, insulated container to ensure the integrity and safety of the biological material during transportation. It acts as a controlled environment, and its temperature stability is critically maintained by the inclusion of four specialized Gel packs. These packs work to keep the internal temperature of the kit within the narrow range required to preserve the viability and quality of the stem cells until the kit is promptly delivered to the laboratory for processing.
Shipping Info
ReeLabs partners with professional medical courier services to manage the critical transportation of the collected biological samples. The service ensures that once the sample is collected at the birthing center, a courier is immediately dispatched to pick up the specialized collection kit and deliver it to the ReeLabs processing facility. We strive ensure the fastest possible delivery to the lab, which is vital for preserving the viability and potency of the stem cells. Our laboratory is operational 24/7 which minimizes the time between collection and processing, a key factor in maximizing the quality of the stored cells. This service is included in the base price in India. International shipment will incur additional costs.
Processing Method
ReeLabs offers two options for cord blood processing: HES and TotiCyte
Cord Blood Processing using HES Method (Hydroxyethyl Starch Sedimentation):
This process involves adding the polymer Hydroxyethyl Starch (HES) to the collected cord blood. HES acts to increase the sedimentation rate of the heavier, less desirable Red Blood Cells (RBCs), causing them to rapidly clump together and settle at the bottom of the container due to gravity. The remaining fluid, which is rich in lighter components including plasma and the valuable stem cells, forms an upper layer called the buffy coat. This stem cell-rich layer is then carefully extracted, concentrated, and prepared for cryopreservation, while the majority of the settled RBCs are discarded.
Cord Blood Processing using Toticyte Method:
The TotiCyte method is an advanced, proprietary processing technique designed for high efficiency in stem cell recovery. This method uses a specialized solution, incorporating components like Dextran and DMSO, which is mixed with the cord blood sample. Similar to HES, this mixture causes the Red Blood Cells (RBCs) to quickly settle to the bottom using gravity, but the TotiCyte solution is specifically engineered to achieve an exceptionally high level of RBC depletion (often over 99%). Crucially, this method is optimized to ensure a high recovery rate of the viable stem cells, including rare and early progenitor cells, which can potentially lead to a higher-quality final product for future therapeutic applications.
Placental Stem Cell Processing
Processing the placenta involves isolating Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) from the solid placental tissue after the birth and cord blood collection are complete. This method differs significantly from liquid cord blood processing as it requires breaking down solid material. First, the placental tissue is thoroughly cleaned to remove any residual blood. It is then meticulously cut into small pieces to increase the surface area. Finally, enzymatic digestion is used to chemically digest and loosen the cellular connections, effectively releasing the valuable Placental Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (PMSCs) from the surrounding tissue matrix. These isolated cells are then purified, typically expanded in a lab culture to increase their quantity, and ultimately prepared for long-term cryopreservation.

Storage Method
Stem cells are cryopreserved at -196°C / -320.8°F in multiple vials to avoid wastage, allowing multiple use, across multiple medical indications.
