Biohellenika Cell Therapy Centre (BCTC) is the first Filipino owned cord blood bank in the Philippines and throughout Asia. It was established in July 2016.

BCTC is a Master Franchisee for cord blood, cord tissue and VSELs banking services of Biohellenika S.A. It is a division of Swisspharma Research Labs., Inc. (SPRLI), with 46 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry. The headquarters are located in Barrio Pittland, Cabuyao, Laguna.

Biohellenika S.A. is a medically oriented stem cells company based in Thessaloniki, Greece. This is the company that granted the Master Franchise to Biohellenika Cell Therapy Centre. Through this collaboration, all technical expertise, information, and training were provided by Biohellenika S.A. The quality control system guided by the GMP and the ISBT 1028 Cording System was put in place in preparation for the AABB and ISO 9001 certifications. Biohellenika S.A. has the international accreditation AABB (American Association of Blood Banks), and has successfully released cryopreserved stem cells from umbilical cord blood for autologous therapies all over the world and supports clinical trials in collaboration with qualified specialists and medical groups.

Biohellenika Cell Therapy Centre is a registered “Special Clinical Laboratory” by the Department of Health with Registration Number SCL-0005-18-48-2. It is registered as a health facility authorized to collect, process and cryopreserve umbilical cord blood and cord tissue. Storage Method

Biohellenika Cell Therapy Centre final stem cell storage is in cryovials. Initially, the samples are kept in temporary storage in a quarantine freezer, then after the samples clear infectious disease testing they are moved to the long term freezer. BCTC cryotanks use liquid nitrogen.
