HealthBaby was established and dedicated to cord blood industry since 2006. HealthBaby goes beyond just providing the cord blood and umbilical cord stem cell storage services. The Company devotes time and resources in biotechnology research projects to explore stem cell medical applications for the betterment of human health. HealthBaby also participated in various projects, including "Therapeutic Implications of Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in Attenuating Influenza A(H5N1) Virus–Associated Acute Lung Injury", "In Vivo Mouse Model to Study the Therapeutic Effect of Umbilical Cord Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells on Severe Human Influenza Diseases", and HPV Vaccine with international and local universities and official organizations. HealthBaby is the only private cord blood bank in Hong Kong to be accredited by AABB and the College of American Pathologists (CAP), another world-class accreditation body for cord blood banks worldwide.

Collection Kit

HealthBaby provides specialised cord blood and umbilical cord collection kits with the necessary collection tools (e.g. JMS blood bags, syringe and vacutainers etc.) and detailed collection guidelines to O&G doctors.

Transportation Container

HealthBaby's container is thermal-insulated to provide stable storage condition. A data logger is used to monitor the temperature throughout the transportation process to ensure the cord blood sample is kept within the optimal temperature range.

Shipping Info

HealthBaby provides in-house free-of-charge cord blood and umbilical cord samples collection service from designated hospitals (Hong Kong and Macau region) upon notification.

Processing Method

HealthBaby adopts a specialized, FDA-cleared stem cells processing system: AXP® II AutoXpress® Platform. AXP® II is capable of recovering more than 97% of viable CD34+ stem cells, higher than other available processing systems.

Storage Method

HealthBaby is the only private cord blood bank in Hong Kong that adopts the state-of-the-art and FDA-cleared automatic stem cell storage system: BioArchive® System. The BioArchive® freezer has a closed system and automatic retrieval operation to eliminate temperature fluctuation when the lid of the storage tank is opened. Liquid nitrogen (-196℃) storage medium provides stable temperature and maintains the highest cell viability.  BioArchive® has been adopted by 170 cord blood banks in 42 countries worldwide, including the Hong Kong public cord blood bank as of January 2020.

Licensing & Accreditation

Besides AABB accreditation, HealthBaby is the first and only cord blood laboratory in Hong Kong accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Clinical Experience

In Hong Kong, HealthBaby has released the most cord blood units of any bank. Three patients were successfully treated with their own cord blood. Two of the recipients were suffering from cerebral palsy and one was suffering from neuroblastoma. One recipient received a transplant of sibling cord blood to treat Fanconi's Anaemia. One recipient received an allogeneic cord blood transplant to treat Thalassemia Major.
