Cryoviva Vietnam is the first foreign private stem cell bank to be granted a license to operate in Vietnam, offering state of the art stem cell storage with international technology. Cryoviva Group began in Thailand in 2007 and now includes four laboratories that serve over 22 countries. Cryoviva Vietnam specializes in cell storage and cell culture with the most advanced technology to ensure cell quality and cooperates with clinical research hospitals to apply stem cells to treatment.

Business Experience

Future Stem Cell Bank (FSCB) provides stem cell storage and immunobanking services as the exclusive Vietnam partner of Cryoviva. The Cryoviva Group has marketed cord blood banking in Vietnam since 2018 and opened their laboratory in 2022. Within the first six months of operation, the laboratory had processed and stored 100 cord blood units in Vietnam.

Collection Kit

Cryoviva collection kit contains the JMS Cord Blood Bag, manufactured in Japan. Cryoviva uses povidone-iodine swab sticks for disinfectant followed by 70% ethyl alcohol swabs. All critical kit items are sterile, and assembling of collection kits has been passed from two checks, i.e. approved by and reviewed by, then released for distribution.

Transportation container

Cryoviva uses a validated cool box consisting of cooled gel packs with a calibrated data logger to monitor the transit temperature. The container is validated to maintain room temperature for a certain number of hours under test conditions.

Shipping Info

Within Vietnam, Cryoviva has a logistics team fully trained in cord blood and maternal sample handling. The logistic team has a competency assessment on regular basis. The processing facility is open from Mon to Fri 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, on holidays and Sundays it is open as required.

Components Stored

Cryoviva stores the hematopoietic stem cells, i.e., HPC-cord blood. Cryoviva also stores maternal sample aliquots and integral testing aliquots from the cord blood, for future testing references. After processing and testing is complete, parents will receive the Storage and Testing Report. This consists of test results for maternal blood testing, sterility, viability, Total Nucleated Cell (TNC) count, CD34+ counts, etc. Parents also receive a Storage Certificate along with other certificates as per opted plan.

Storage Method

The final storage bag is a 25 ml blood bag having two compartments holding 20 ml and 5ml. Three integral testing segments are attached to the bag tubing. This bag is encased in over wrap which gives extra safety and finally placed in the client-specific separate aluminum canister, stored below -150C. First it is stored in the quarantine location in a cryogenic storage tank, after completion of all testing it goes to the permanent storage location in the vapour phase of a cryogenic nitrogen storage tank.

Licensing & Accreditation

Cryoviva Vietnam is licensed by the Ministry of Health Vietnam and all cord blood processing is performed in a controlled environment in frequently validated cleanrooms.

Clinical Experience

Cryoviva Vietnam began operations in 2022, but Cryoviva Group has knowledge of all the protocols and procedures for cord blood release and transfers. If it is necessary, the cord blood can be released to any hospital anywhere in the world.
