About

Oklahoma is home to many minority groups, such as Native Americans, who are not well represented in existing cord blood banks. Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is the ninth largest independent, nonprofit, blood center in the United States. Planning for their cord blood bank began in 2014 but took years to establish. It was launched thanks to generous contributions from several Oklahoma foundations and scores of individuals.

The primary collection hospital for the Oklahoma Blood Institute cord blood bank has been SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City. At the end of 2022, they stopped collecting cord blood.
