Erlangen Cord Blood Bank is part of the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Hemostaseology at Erlangen University Hospital (aka Universitätsklinikum Erlangen). The Erlangen cord blood banking program started in 1999 and was approved by the national health authority (Paul Ehrlich Institute) in 2004. The bank lists unrelated cord blood units on the ZKRD (The German National Bone Marrow Donor Registry) and are thereby available internationally.

• Erlangen Cord Blood Bank´s HLA-lab is accreditated by the European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI).
• The Departments´s quality management system is certified according to ISO 9001:2015.
• Erlangen Cord Blood Bank is accredited by FACT  for unrelated and related cord blood collection, banking, and release for administration.
