Stroke

Strokes can be ischemic or hemorrhagic. Ischemic stroke occurs when a blocked blood vessel prevents the brain from receiving oxygen and brain cells start to die. Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a weakened blood vessel bleeds in the brain and causes injury from swelling. Studies are testing cord blood treatment for adults with stroke. Our March 2022 newsletter tells the story of a man who recovered from a stroke after a single cord blood infusion.
