Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) established the first public Cord Blood Bank in Hong Kong in 1999 to collect and provide patients with cord blood units for transplantation. It was initially named "The Hong Kong Red Cross Catherine Chow Cord Blood Bank" to memorialize Ms. Chow Tao Ying Catherine's generous donation of HK$6.25 million (the Evertrue Family Trust) in 2007. The bank first received FACT accreditation in April 2013.
