The Cyprus Rotary Cord Blood Registry, a partnership of the Public Allogeneic Cord Blood Bank CYCORD and the Karaiskakio Foundation, operates on non-profit basis with sole purpose the public interest and social responsibility. The Cyprus Rotary Cord Blood Registry is administrated by the Karaiskakio Foundation which is responsible for the maternal information and application, preparation of collection kits, transport to and from the collection sites and the administration and maintenance of the registry. The registry has listed cord blood units with WMDA since 2008.  CYCORD is accredited by FACT-Netcord for cord blood collection, banking, and release for administration of unrelated and directed related donations.

CYCORD the Public Allogeneic Cord Blood Bank (CYCORD PACBB) is the first and only unrelated cord blood bank in Cyprus. The Cord Blood Bank was established in 2005 by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Karaiskakio Foundation (the Cyprus Bone Marrow Donor Registry), ten Cypriot Rotary Clubs and the Cyprus Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. It is licensed by the local competent authority according to EU Directives for Tissues and cells for the collection, storage and distribution of cord blood units.

The cord blood collection is performed at maternity clinics throughout Cyprus in collaboration with the Cyprus Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
