Hemocentro RP

About

Hemocentro RP = Hemocentro da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto Universidade (HCFMRP). The regional blood center ("hemocentro") of Ribeirão Preto and its hemotherapy center are linked to the General Hospital of the Medical School of the University of São Paulo. The hemocentro is a non-profit institute that provides services to over 200 municipalities and assists around 5 million inhabitants in the state of São Paulo and nearby states.

Hemocentro RP began a public cord blood bank in 2008. They are part of the national bank network BrasilCord, which in turn is part of REDOME, Brazil's national inventory of hematopoietic stem cells. Cord blood donations are collected from Centro de Referência da Saúde da Mulher - Ribeirão Preto, which is a public maternity hospital giving assistance to the city of Ribeirão Preto and region.
