California's Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Program
The Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Program (UCBCP) is a California state program administered by the University of California Davis Health System. The UCBCP was created by a law passed in late 2010 that funds public cord blood banking by raising the cost of a birth certificate copy. Cord blood donations are collected from multiple hospitals within five regions of the state that have high population density and high racial diversity.
