AboutBank Director: Cindy Raven
Michigan Blood's Cord Blood Bank will mail a collection kit to a qualifying donor if you register ahead of your due date and will be delivering at one of the hospitals in the state at which Michigan Blood operates a blood bank.
As of September 2017, collection hospitals are:
- Bronson Methodist Hospital - Kalamazoo, MI
- Covenant Medical Center - Harrison Campus, Saginaw, MI
- Holland Hospital - Holland, MI
- Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus - Grand Rapids, MI
The parents bring the collection kit to the hospital at delivery time and their OB/Gyn or midwife performs the collection. The blood bank provides courier service to bring the cord blood to the central laboratory. The cord blood is processed with a procedure similar to that developed at the NY Blood Center.
