The King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) cord blood bank (CBB) located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a non-profit public bank established June 6, 2010. The CBB is responsible for recruiting, processing, testing, cryopreservation, storage, thawing and infusion of cord blood units that will be used for patients in need of cord blood stem cell transplantation. All CBB activities are located at KAIMRC and carried out within a quality system compliant with international standards.

The main objective of the CBB is the collection and production of high quality public cord blood units, which would be collected at birth from Saudi donors, to be given to unrelated patients. Units not suitable for clinical use will be utilized in research in the stem-cell therapy laboratory. The UCBB at KAIMRC is accredited by FACT-Netcord for cord blood collection, banking, and release for administration of unrelated and related donations.
