The NY Blood Center, which in 2004 changed the name of its cord blood program to the "National Cord Blood Program", is the world's oldest and most prestigious public cord blood bank. For many years they could claim to have provided most of the cord blood used in transplants around the world. As of March 2009, cord blood inventory of the NY Blood Center was 46,144, and they had released 2906 transplants. In Sept. 2009 the NY Blood Center began listing their cord blood inventory on the NMDP registry as well.

- DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, GA
