The DoD contractor U.S. BioDefense, Inc. (OTCBB:UBDE) announced the launch of the website www.1800STEMCELLS.com. U.S. BioDefense says the website is funded by a subsidary which hopes to launch an IPO. The website claims to be collecting donations for a new 501c3 non-profit charity called The Stem Cell Industry Council Inc. Membership in this charity costs upwards of $5,000. However, there is no such charity registered with either the California DoJ or the IRS as of Aug 2005. The EIN number given by U.S. BioDefense for The Stem Cell Industry Council, #20-2066901, actually belongs to the Humane Refuge Foundation of Santa Ana, CA, registered to a Matthew Marcus. Apparently the same Matthew Marcus is a member of the Synergy Investment Group, which offers stock investments. Thus it would appear, on the surface, that donations to 1800STEMCELLS may possibly be re-directed to fund the US BioDefense IPO.
