The first organ transplant brokered through a Web site: A patient obtained a kidney from a living donor via www.MatchingDonors.com. This method by-passes the national waiting list of United Network for Organ Sharing, the non-profit group which allocates all organs donated from cadavers. In Nov 1999, Forbes magazine published an expose on inequities in organ distribution by UNOS (scroll down to "Organ King").
