US National Cord Blood Program proposed

The US Senate heard testimony on advances in adult and non-embryonic stem cell research. Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) pledged to support the creation of a NATIONAL CORD BLOOD BANK. On June 26, the committee drafted "S. 1356—The Department of Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2004" (which begins in October). S.1356 contains appropriations for a national cord blood bank.
