AboutParent bank: StemCare
The Danish stem cell bank StemCare A/S - the only private stem cell bank in Scandinavia specialising in collecting and storing umbilical cord stem cells - has expanded its activities abroad and is now also available in Sweden (<a href="http://www.stemcare.dk/EN/uk-here-we-publish-news-that-we-believe-you-wi... target="_blank">announcement</a>). So far, StemCare has entered into partnership agreements with hospitals in Malmö, Helsingborg, Lund Ystad and Kristianstad.
Stemcare was founded in 2002 and began collecting cord blood in 2003.
Originally, Stemcare shipped their cord blood collections to the
laboratory of VITA34, in Leipzig, Germany. As of spring 2005, Stemcare
began operating their own laboratory in Copenhagen, using the
proprietary GMP technology from VITA34. In October 2007, Stemcare
merged with Copygene, another cord blood bank in Copenhagen which was
founded in 2003 and began operations in 2004. Stemcare is a
founding member of Cord Blood Europe and has marketing offices in Sweden, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey.
