Criocel:Banco de Sangre de Cordón Umbilical offers storage services and cryopreservation of stem cells from umbilical cord through systems and processes certified by ISO 9001:2008 to ensure its quality. We have the experience and support of Laboratorios Clinicos Echandi.

Collection Kit

We use simple 250mL with ultra thin wall needle USP (35 MLCPD) blood pack unit Fenwal international Inc from USA and MedLine Povidone-Iodine USP Prep pad medium for a disinfection.

Transportation container

Our Container is guaranteed to maintain room temperature for about 36 hours.

Shipping Info

Our Employees of the bank pick up the blood from selected hospitals and bring it to the Criocel Lab (a distance of a few kilometers).

Processing Method

We do a Manual cell separation by sedimentation & spin using Ficoll and PBS solutions.

Components Stored

The Parents are provided with a certificate that describes test results (cell counts, viability) signed by a microbiologist specialist in immunohematology.

Storage Method

We use Criovials into a Freezer that uses liquid nitrogen or vapor phase of cryogenic nitrogen.

Licensing & Accreditation

Criocel is registered with the FDA, Costa Rica National Health Ministry, and accredited by ISO 9001:2008.
