China Cord Blood Corporation (CCBC) is the first and largest umbilical cord blood banking operator in China in terms of geographical coverage, and the only cord blood banking operator with multiple licenses. China Cord Blood Corporation provides cord blood collection, laboratory testing, hematopoietic stem cell processing, and stem cell storage services.
Labs and Locations
Laboratories are maintained in Beijing and Guangdong.
The cord blood bank in Beijing is operated by Beijing Jiachenhong Biological Technologies Co. Ltd., received its cord blood banking license in September 2002.

The cord blood bank in Guangdong is operated by Shenzhen Nuoya Pharmaceutical Equipment Co. Ltd., received its cord blood banking license in June 2006.

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2009 (NYSE: CO), CCBC was the first cord blood bank licensed in China. Under current PRC government regulations, only one licensed cord blood banking operator is permitted to operate in each of 31 regions. To date only 7 licenses have been authorized. CCBC holds 3 exclusive licenses to service the city of Beijing, Guangdong region and Zhejiang region, plus they have an equity stake in Shandong region. The newborn population in their 3 licensed regions is 2.89 million or 45% of the birth population eligible for banking. Together with Shandong region, 73% of the eligible population is covered by CCBC banking. By the end of 2013, their cord blood inventory was 311,982.
Licensing & Accreditation
The Beijing cord blood laboratory achieved AABB accreditation in early 2013.
Subscription fees consist of two components -- processing fee (RMB6,800) & annual storage fee (RMB860/year). A mandatory medical insurance program provided by a third party insurer is bundled with CCBC’s service package for an additional cost. As such gross annual storage payment made by client is RMB980/year
